Engjaskóli is a primary school in Grafarvogur. The school's core values are creation, perseverance and collaboration.
There are three primary schools in northern Grafarvogur. Engjaskóli and Borgaskóli are for students in grades 1-7.
Víkurskóli is a consolidated school for students in grades 8-10.
The after-school program Brosbær operates at Engjaskóli.
The youth center Vígyn offers diverse and fun activities for students from these three schools.
Engjaskóli offers diverse and creative learning, aiming to promote comprehensive development of all students, educating responsible, capable, creative, and independent citizens. The emphasis is on diverse teaching methods, formative learning, and team collaboration for staff. The school also emphasizes health promotion, environmental education, rights education, and innovation. We follow the educational approach "Raising for Responsibility". Engjaskóli adheres to the Reykjavík City's Education Policy “Let Our Dreams Come True“.

Formative learning
Engjaskóli is one of the formative learning centers of excellence. Engjaskóli's learning culture is shaped by the philosophy and practice of formative learning. The school has the expertise and hands-on experience to offer peer support in formative learning to other schools that request it.

The goal of Víkurskóli's safety plan is to ensure a safe learning and working environment for students, staff, and visitors. The plan establishes procedures and responsibilities for prevention, response, and follow-up related to accidents, fires, bullying, natural disasters, and other incidents that may affect safety and welfare in school operations.

Skólamatur handles school meals at Engjaskóli. You can find the menu on the school's website under "Matseðill"
School meals are free for the 2025-2026 school year. However, the school still needs to track information about allergies and intolerances and limit food waste. Students must register for the school lunch program as before.
