Engjaskóli Games a big hit
Multiple intelligences and great spirit across grades
The annual Engjaskóli Games took place in grand style on Tuesday, Sept. 29.
One of the school's most beloved traditions, the games moved indoors this year. Both students and staff were buzzing with anticipation.
Teamwork and a diverse range of strengths were front and center. The games rely on psychologist Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences as a guiding principle.
The activity stations engaged students' varied strengths, such as verbal, logical-mathematical, bodily-kinesthetic, musical and interpersonal intelligence, giving everyone a chance to shine in their element.

Students were divided into mixed-grade groups, allowing older and younger children to tackle the challenges together.
Grade 7 students stepped up as group leaders, skillfully guiding their teams through the day's activities. They demonstrated impressive independence, responsibility and leadership while directing their younger peers, keeping team spirit high and ensuring everyone had fun.

The Engjaskóli Games provide a wonderful opportunity to strengthen our school community. Weaving Howard Gardner's multiple intelligences into the planning allows all students to showcase their capabilities.
It is wonderful to see grade 7 students embrace responsibility as leaders and watch students of different ages connect and collaborate.
