Engjaskóli at EdCamp
On Monday, April 20, Mixtúra — SFS's Creation & Information Technology Studio — joined the University of Iceland, Reykjavík City, and other parties to host the wide-ranging EdCamp conference at Saga, formerly known as Hótel Saga. The event showcased a rich, engaging variety of educational approaches, featuring artificial intelligence, outdoor learning, Seesaw, Evolytes, 3D projects, reading clubs, and diverse forms of literacy instruction.
Borgaskóli and Engjaskóli set up a podcast studio at Saga, where they interviewed EdCamp participants and recorded videos of the event. Two
Borgaskóli students, Karlotta and Stefanía, alongside Engjaskóli students Gunnar Helgi and Trausti Steinn, ran the studio with distinction, supported by teachers from both schools. Bryndís
Ingimundardóttir, an Engjaskóli visual arts teacher, also presented the Happiness Project, which earned her the Reykjavík Inspiration Award earlier this
year.
Birna Sif Kristinsdóttir and Halldóra Gunnarsdóttir, second-grade homeroom teachers at Engjaskóli, joined a distinguished group to present a major Reykjavík City initiative called AI in Primary Schools.
RÚV journalists visited the EdCamp to interview the Borgaskóli and Engjaskóli students while they worked, airing the segment on Krakkafréttir that same day. The interviews
and additional EdCamp coverage are available here. It is safe to say Engjaskóli represented itself with great pride on this fine April day.
